Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of more than 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news outlet, is a television personality as well as a writer and charitable donor. Originating from Greece she moved to England at the age of 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. She was the first person non-UK to become president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. She was a syndicated conservative writer following graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a few years after, she created an online platform for voice with a critique of current political scenarios. The fame of her name helped in getting several high-profile contributors to share their opinions about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna became famous after she made the decision in 2003 to become an Independent Candidate for the California Recall Election in order to succeed former Governor Davis. She was also involved in a Detroit-based project that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. She was named one of the Most Influential Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009, and was awarded the 12th place in this list. That same year Guardian named her on the Top 100 Media List. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made her president of that media group which included many at the time-current AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Their parents are Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. They were a management consultant and journalist. Though she shared a close friendship with both of her parents and father, it was their relationship that helped shape her. She showed leadership traits from the beginning. As a 16-year-old the girl moved to the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. While in college she was a member of the Cambridge Union's college debating societies where she eventually became its first foreign and female president. In 1972 she received a degree in Economics. Her career as an anchor and reporter was born after graduation. She also appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editorial assistance.
