Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a family of 12 poor kids who would grow with them eventually. She learned young how to overcome of the difficulties she faced through her vibrant and vivid imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she could write and read. At the age of 8years old, she purchased the first electric guitar she owned and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. In the same year, she recorded her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Even though she became popular in the local scene while she was at High School, she knew her ambitions were much bigger. In 1964, the day that followed her graduation from high school the singer moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts for the first time on Monument Records. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for his syndicated television show. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting to RCA Records. Then, in 1974, she left Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her singles like Joshua Coats Of Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release.
